The role in brief:
- Providing VAT consulting advice and practical assistance on a wide variety of international VAT issues to both internal and external clients.
- Providing VAT technical advice and practical assistance to clients in regulating local VAT compliance matters throughout the EU and globally.
- Service and grow a portfolio of multinational, blue-chip clients.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with both existing and new clients.
- Build and maintain successful working relationships with internal departments in order to ensure the highest quality of service to your clients.
- Review the work of junior consultants to ensure technical accuracy and easy understanding. This includes mentoring and training responsibilities.
- Prepare and deliver suitable training presentations, both internally and externally.
- Contribute to the research and writing of articles on topical VAT issues for publication in business newsletters and external professional publications.
- Represent the business in various industry groups and before governments, VAT administrations and the EU Commission.
Ideal candidate skills & experience:
- A competent VAT professional, with at least 3 years experience in a professional consultancy practice or industry.
- VAT Manager or equivalent grade.
- Have a VAT, tax or accounting qualification, or qualified by experience.
- Have an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of principle European Union VAT legislation and in depth application in at least one Member State.
- A good working knowledge of European jurisprudence and key cases.
- An awareness and understanding of VAT and equivalent indirect taxes in other parts of the world.
