This international firm offers you a great opportunity to rapidly expand your career. The role involves you working in a number two position to a head of tax. Prospects are exceptional and advancement to Director will be rapid. Clients are primarily multinationals and include sectors in mining, FS and telecoms.

The role of Tax Manager is wide-ranging, and will cover Corporate Tax (main focus), VAT, and Customs and Excise, among others. As you might expect in an evolving economy with a developing tax system, around 80% of the work will be advisory in nature. As part of the tax team you will have the opportunity to work and liaise at a high level with multinational and high profile clients as well as with senior officials at the Zambia Revenue Authority. Management and development, in terms of both work and staff, will form another key part of the role.

Some aspects of the role:

  • Strategic tax planning on matters ranging from tax efficient financing, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, restructuring and complex tax authority enquiries;
  • Leading business development initiatives on target clients, contributing to winning new work;
  • Leading existing client engagements, reporting direct to a partner;
  • Developing less experienced staff with hands on advice and support;
  • Input into development of new market opportunities locally and nationally as part of an industry group, with an opportunity to lead the market development of the new ideas
  • Identifying cross service line opportunities;
  • Contributing to existing team spirit and ensuring coming to work is fun.  Carrying out technical research;
  • Corporation tax planning and advice;
  • Agreeing fees with clients and billing; -
  • Playing a key part in cross border transactions, mergers and acquisitions and international tax advice

What do you need for this role?

You will ideally have strong creative mind, strong communication and negotiation skills. A sound background in tax is vital, together with some knowledge of international tax issues. The ambition to develop alongside a growing practice in an evolving economy is crucial.
